Antiques and Their Afterlives

Antiques and Their Afterlives: August Edition

This is an Atlas Obscura Members-Only event, if you are not a member you can join anytime to gain access to these exclusive events.

Anatomical figures rendered in lifelike wax, prosthetic glass eyes peering up from medical trays, elaborate human hair wreaths memorializing the dearly departed. For Ryan and Regina Cohn, preserving these curious and often misunderstood objects is as much about honoring the past as learning from it.

What We’ll Do

Anatomical figures rendered in lifelike wax, prosthetic glass eyes peering up from medical trays, elaborate human hair wreaths memorializing the dearly departed. For Ryan and Regina Cohn, preserving these curious and often misunderstood objects is as much about honoring the past as learning from it.

In this hour-long virtual event, the co-founders of the wildly popular Oddities Flea Market and authors of The Witch's Door: Oddities and Tales from the Esoteric to the Extreme, open their doors and welcome you into their home, or take you along for a trip to see fascinating objects in museums and the homes of other collectors.

This August, you're invited into the home of Christophe Bardot aka Vintagefrenchy. Christophe is a French American graphic designer, photographer, and artist with an eye for the unique, original, and unusual. Born in Kingston, New York, and raised in the suburbs of Paris, and educated in New York City, he now lives in a small coastal Connecticut town. As an avid collector, he immerses himself in what brings him joy whether it be mundane forgotten objects, art, oddities, artifacts, or relics. Christophe passionately collects the arcane, the quirky, and the creative, all a reflection of him. Bienvenue dans son monde!

The next Oddities Flea Market will take place in Los Angeles on October 5th! Learn more here.
